Welcome to the group web page of Prof. B. Ketzer

The group of Prof. Bernhard Ketzer is based at the Helmholtz-Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik (HISKP) and the Forschungs- und Technologiezentrum Detektorphysik (FTD) at the University of Bonn. In our research, we explore fundamental questions related to the microscopic structure of matter. We develop cutting-edge particle detectors for experiments at accelerators, e.g. at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics CERN, and analyze the data using high-performance computers in order to learn more about the nature of our universe. We are constantly looking for talented and motivated students to join our team. Teaching is an integral part of our mission to educate the next generation of scientists.

In our research we focus on the question how the properties of hadrons can be explained in terms of their building blocks. To this end, we participate in some of the largest experiments in the world, develop detectors and analyze the data.

Jobs and Theses

We constantly offer possibilities for Bachelor / Master and PhD theses in our group. Do not hesitate to have a look and contact us.

Contribution to the new FTD in Bonn

The new Forschungs- und Technologiezentrum Detektorphysik (FTD) offers the high-tech equipment and infrastructure we need for the development of particle detectors. Prof. B. Ketzer is one of the two spokespersons of the FTD. You can find more information on the official webpage of the FTD.
